Frequent questions
Why 2.5x the average salary rather than a fixed amount?
Because the law uses a multiplier of Croatia’s official 2025 average net salary (€1,449) as its base — this can update as salary statistics are revised, rather than staying fixed forever.
Why is income exempt from tax?
This is a special provision of Croatian law for digitalni nomad status holders — income from foreign sources is not subject to local income tax, a distinction from many similar programmes in the region.
How is the family surcharge calculated?
+10% of the base €3,622.50/mo for each additional family member reunited with the applicant.
Can income be confirmed with a lump sum?
Yes — €43,470 in the account covers the 12-month option, €65,205 covers the full 18-month maximum.
Since when does the 18-month maximum apply?
Since March 2025 — a shorter term applied before that; the current limit is now officially set.
Is a criminal-record certificate required?
Yes, legalised — a separate mandatory requirement, independent of financial proof.
