The lowest entry point among the Caribbean programmes in this index

Dominica
citizenship by investment

Formally the cheapest threshold in the Caribbean — but the accompanying fees (due diligence, interview, certificate) noticeably raise the final total. We show them separately, not folded in.

The EDF contribution grows with family size

Unlike St Kitts or Grenada, where the base amount covers a family of up to 4, in Dominica every additional family member increases the total contribution.

What the full cost consists of

Beyond the EDF contribution itself, the programme collects several separate fees — due diligence, application processing, naturalisation certificate, interview. Each is modest alone, but together they raise the bill noticeably.

How the process runs

01
Preparing documents
4–8 weeks to assemble the package — bank statements, criminal record certificates, source-of-funds documentation.
02
Due diligence
The main review takes 4–6 months; the technical due diligence check itself runs 5–15 business days within that window.
03
Interview and biometrics
Mandatory for applications filed from July 2026 under the regional regulator ECCIRA — adds 1–2 weeks.
04
Approval and investment
After approval-in-principle, the contribution is released from escrow to the recipient; the naturalisation certificate follows 2–3 weeks after payment is confirmed.
05
Oath and passport
The oath is taken at a Dominica embassy or an authorised representative abroad; the passport follows 2–4 weeks after the oath.

A good fit if

Your budget is genuinely tight: this is the lowest formal entry threshold among the Caribbean programmes in this index.
You are a single applicant or a small family — the accompanying fees grow with the number of people, but for a single applicant they stay modest.
You can accept a longer timeline — 8–12 months is realistic, not the 2–3 sometimes advertised.
You do not need a US E-2 visa path or other specific privileges — Dominica does not offer such special routes.

A poor fit if

Your family has many dependants: the accompanying fees (due diligence, interview, certificates) apply per person and add up noticeably.
You need a result faster than six months.
Your source of funds is hard to document.
You are looking for a return of capital — the EDF contribution is non-refundable in every outcome.

Who runs this programme

Your request goes to two or three firms from this list. You see exactly which ones before it is sent, and you can exclude any of them.

Frequent questions

Is it really the cheapest Caribbean programme?

By the base contribution — yes, $200,000 is lower than regional neighbours. But once due diligence, application processing and other fees are counted, the gap with programmes that look more expensive at first narrows.

Can you get the fees back on refusal?

The due diligence, processing and interview fees are not refunded regardless of outcome. The EDF contribution itself is non-refundable even on approval — it is a contribution, not an investment.

What changed from July 2026?

Applications filed from that date go through mandatory biometrics and an interview under the regional regulator ECCIRA (Eastern Caribbean Citizenship by Investment Regulatory Authority) — this was not always enforced as strictly before.

Who can be included in the application?

A spouse, children, parents, and other dependants — but unlike St Kitts, the EDF contribution has no single "family of 4" amount; it grows with each additional member.

How long does it really take?

6–9 months from a complete package to the passport, plus 4–8 weeks of document preparation beforehand. A realistic total is 8–12 months.

Does this programme offer special visa privileges, like Grenada’s E-2 path?

No, Dominica has no dedicated path to a US E-2 visa or similar special routes — it is a standard programme with visa-free access to 144 countries.
