Put money into real estate, a fund, or a business — get the right to live there. Citizenship is almost always a separate, much longer story.

A good fit if

You have free capital from €50,000 that you don’t need right now.

The goal is a backup status in the EU or elsewhere, not necessarily relocating.

You accept that the money mostly does not come back (except for a few bond- or deposit-based routes).

A poor fit if

You need a result without a large sum — see the INCOME or NOMAD categories.

Your goal is specifically citizenship on a reasonable timeline: RBI naturalisation usually takes 5–10+ years of actual residence.

You plan to actively run a business in the new country — BUSINESS is the closer fit.

How it differs from neighbouring categories

Unlike CBI, it grants only residence, not a passport right away — citizenship has to be earned separately through naturalisation, often over years. Unlike BUSINESS, it does not require personally running a company — you can be a passive investor.
