Status for people who keep working remotely for clients or an employer abroad. Usually temporary, often with no path to permanent residence or citizenship.

A good fit if

You work remotely for clients or an employer outside the destination country and can document it with contracts.

You want a fast status — from 1–2 months in some jurisdictions.

You are fine with a temporary status: most programmes cap out after a few years with no automatic path to permanence.

A poor fit if

Your goal is permanent status or citizenship: most nomad visas have no direct path to permanent residence.

Your income is tied to local employment in the destination country.

Your income is below the threshold — usually €3,500/month and up, noticeably stricter than the INCOME category.

How it differs from neighbouring categories

Unlike INCOME, the income must come from active remote work, not be passive. Unlike BUSINESS, the business or employer stays abroad rather than being set up in the new country.
